PRESIDENT, NIGERIA COMMUNITY IN COTE D’IVOIRE, OTHERS WIN WAIA

The President of Nigeria Community in Cote D’Ivoire, Chief Onwuchelu Michael Emeka, has joined the League of a few West Africa nationals to be bestowed with the prestigious West Africa Icon Award for 2024.
Chief Onwuchelu Emeka, who was described by High Chief Darlinghton Momoh Umoru, a security consultant, as a special Nigerian, also disclosed that Chief Emeka’s commendable contributions and recognizable achievements in cubbing human trafficking and child prostitution cannot be overemphasized.
In the words of High Chief Darlinghton Umoru, a former Consultant to the Presidential Committee on Small Arms and Light Weapons, who also doubles as director of WAIA, “Chief Emeka has within three years of his administration as president, collaborated with the Nigerian Embassy in Cote D’Ivoire, in rescuing over 860 Nigerian girls that were victims of human trafficking and child prostitution”.
That was not all. High Chief also added that aside from rescuing those young girls, who would have dented the good image of our country, they have all been reunited with their family members in Nigeria.
Since becoming president of the Nigerian community in the West Africa sub-region, it is on record that Chief Emeka has repositioned and increased the cultural values of Nigeria and Nigerians within his domain.
The Director of WAIA, who revealed the date of the programme as August 17, 2024, told reporters that, “beyond his professional endeavours, the president is deeply engaged in community affairs, aside from playing a vital role in fostering unity, representing the interests of Nigerians in Cote D’Ivoire”.
Others expected to be honoured include; a former gubernatorial candidate of ANDP in Lagos state, Dr. Olusegun Musa, Delta State Civil Service chairman, Mrs Roseline Amioku Eno, Senior Royal High Chief Iyadua Vincent Igietemho, a Maritime player, Comptroller HK Ejibunu, Rt. Hon. Dr. Esther Uduehi, PDP BoT member, Hon. Marvelous Muizu Zibiri, Executive Chairman, Etsako West LGA, Mr. Fred Yoro, Permanent Secretary in Delta State, Mr. Paul Ejime, Dr. Chioma Amajoh amongst others.
