The Royal Father, who is also President General of Association of Igbo Maritime Practitioners in Nigeria- ASIMPIN, in a congratulatory message he personally signed and made available to the media, said that the appointment of Adeniyi as Comptroller General of Customs has corrected the error made by the past administration as the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS) was now manned by a career Customs Officer, describing the appointment as a round peg in a round hole.

The Comptroller General of Customs is among the new Service Chiefs appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu few days after he was sworn in as the President and Commander in Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

The Royal Father urged the new CGC to review some policies that have created major bottlenecks in the maritime industry and reintroduce a professional template that would facilitate trade and boost revenue without pushing both importers and freight forwarders out of business.

Adeniyi who replaced Col. Hammed Ali, Rtd., is a seasoned Customs Officer with over 30 years experience in Customs administration, covering Strategic and operational responsibilities.

The Acting CG, who has built strong relationships with stakeholders over the years as the Organization’s Spokesperson has as well served the Nigeria Customs in various capacities until his recent appointment.

The Royal Father and Chairman, Fano Shipping Agencies Ltd, in the message, disclosed that Practitioners were eager to witness revival of the Maritime industry, adding that he was optimistic that the new CGC would not disappoint Maritime Practitioners, stakeholders and the generality of Nigerians. He prayed God Almighty to grant him the wisdom to discharge his duties honourably.
