This year’s celebration honors the vital contributions women make to society, with a particular focus on their growing presence in the maritime sector. As the world reflects on the progress made toward gender equality, CONMMEP acknowledges the ongoing challenges women face and reaffirms its commitment to empowering women in the maritime industry.

“The maritime sector has much to gain from the leadership, innovation, and inclusivity that women bring,” said Alhaji Tunde Umar- Daniah, President of CONMMEP. “As we celebrate their achievements, we also recognize the need for continued efforts to promote gender equality and support women’s professional development.”

In line with this year’s theme, “Embrace Equity,” CONMMEP urges stakeholders in the maritime sector to implement policies that promote gender equality and support women’s career advancement. The organization believes that a diverse workforce is essential for driving economic growth and informed decision-making.

Through its media advocacy and training programs, CONMMEP strives to create an environment where women can thrive and contribute their unique perspectives to the maritime industry.
