Association of Igbo Maritime Practitioners in Nigeria -ASIMPIN has congratulated Muslim faithful in the Port industry as they celebrate Eid al – Adha.

Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid al-Adha on the 10th day of Dhul-Hijja, the 12th and final month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

(The President General of ASIMPIN, HRM, Eze Amb. Damian Emeka Obianigwe, KSM, JP.)

In a press release signed by the President General of ASIMPIN, HRM Eze Amb. Damian Emeka Obianigwe KSM, JP., he sent warm wishes and prayers for all Muslims, wishing them a prosperous and blessed Eid-al-Adha . The President General, in the statement, stressed the need for religious tolerance and lasting peace across religious divide, adding that propagating peace and love across all faith should be a thing of conscience not just spiritual, as peace and love form the major fulcrum of progress in every home, community or nation.

The President General of ASIMPIN, in the message, condoled with the government and good people of Niger State, following the
May 28, 2025, flooding, caused by heavy rainfall that submerged the market town of Mokwa in Niger State, resulting in severe collateral damage. According to verified reports, the floods killed more than 200 people, as over 1,000 were said to be missing, while at least, 121 others were injured. The flooding, according to officials, destroyed 2,000 homes.

The PG urged the federal and States governments to be proactive and genuinely committed to the protection of lives and property. He condemned the continued killings in Benue, Plateau, and other states of the federation, stressing the need for genuine collaboration amongst communities and security agencies. He also expressed concern over increasing kidnapping activities being witnessed in virtually every State of the federation.

Meanwhile, the PG also called on the leaderships of all Maritime associations, to prioritize the welfare of their members and not to mindlessly extort or abandon them when they face certain challenges in the course of taking delivery of their consignments at the ports .

” I felicitate our Muslim brothers and sisters in the ports industry at the celebration of Eid al- Adha. And I pray Almighty God to grant those who lost their loved ones to flooding in Niger State, and those that also lost theirs to insecurity in other States of the federation, the fortitude to bear the loss. This moment calls for sober reflection. Even as you celebrate, remember the Internally Displaced People(I DP), and those who can not afford one good meal a day. We must note that they deserve to be alive and happy.
Once again, happy celebration to you all”, the PG concluded.
