Addressing journalists in his Lagos office recently, the Chairman of Fano Group, His Royal Majesty, Eze Amb. Damian Emeka Obianigwe, KSM, JP, described Adeniyi’s tenure extension as “a welcome development”.

The Royal Father and veteran Customs Broker stated that the extension was well deserved and would avail the CGC more time to continue the ongoing reformation of the Nigeria Customs Service. The Chairman of Fano Group and President General of Association of Igbo Maritime Practitioners in Nigeria -ASIMPIN, during the session, expressed that Adeniyi had already made indelible marks as Customs Boss, and would replicate same as Chairman , World Customs Organization (WCO) if given more time. The Royal Father maintained that the CG has within a short time, initiated far reaching reforms aimed at total transformation of the Nigeria Customs Service for continental and global relevance.

Furthermore , he insisted that Adeniyi’s election as Chairman of World Customs Organization was a testament to his milestone achievements as CG of Nigeria Customs, stating that his tenure extension was a wise decision by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Meanwhile, on the challenges of B’Odogwu, the Royal Father called on Clearing Agents and Importers to exercise patience with the Nigeria Customs Service as the management has shown commitment to the project. He also noted that every system has teething challenges and expressed optimism that the project would be perfected under the pragmatic leadership of the present Comptroller General of Customs.

Speaking further on B’Odogwu challenges, the Chairman of Fano Group appealed to the Nigeria Customs and terminal operators to also understand the fact that the challenges are not in any way, the faults of Clearing Agents, but system failure, saying that it would be unjust to make anyone suffer for what he does not know about. He called for more sensitization on the procedures for better understanding.
