Importers Association of Nigeria (IMAN) has congratulated Muslim faithful on Eid al-Adha celebration.

(The Vice President of IMAN, High Chief Dr. George Ndubisi)

Muslims around the world celebrate Eid al-Adha on the 10th day of Dhul- Hijja, the 12th and final month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

In a message signed by the Vice President of IMAN, High Chief Dr. George Ndubisi, and made available to The Prestige Magazine Online, he urged religious leaders to always preach the message of tolerance and condemned religious extremism as well as unnecessary rivalry across religions.

Dr. Ndubisi, apart from warm wishes to Muslims, and prayers for peaceful celebration, called for renewed Spirit of nationhood, stressing that the only way to progress as a people is to accommodate one another regardless of ethnic and religious differences.

Dr. Ndubisi also used the medium to call on both federal and State governments to address the increasing spate of insecurity across the country.

However, the Vice President of IMAN, advised those whose stock in trade is to propagate division by inciting one ethnic group or religion against the other, to have a rethink, saying that violence is an evil wind that blows no one any good. He tasked importers on compliance, and advised them against circumventing trade rules, especially, in the area of importation of illicit drugs and other unwholesome items into the country.

According to Dr. Ndubisi, “IMAN has commenced discussion with relevant agencies on how to stop the influx of unwholesome products into the country. We are collaborating with relevant agencies to effectively combat the ugly trend. I must say that legitimate importers adhere strictly to standards, commit to ethical business practices, as well as support initiatives aimed at curbing illicit activities.”

“Importers Association of Nigeria stands firmly with the Federal Government in its efforts to curb illegal imports, and ensure that only quality and genuine goods enter our markets. We shall continue to work with the government to strengthen enforcement, enhance Customs procedures and foster a transparent importation process”.

” Once again, happy Eid al-Adha celebration”.
