The President of ISTDAL, High Chief Chris Ekeocha, was in his best of moods as he welcomed everyone with great pleasure. His speech was laced with a soothing appeal for lasting peace, tolerance and understanding, urging members to show love to one another, as well as more commitment to the association in the coming year.

However, the President, ISTDAL, Women Wing, Lolo Carole Chika – Mmonu, was very passionate in her appeal for peace. She pointed out that without love for one another, every effort and commitment being made to attract progress and development in Imo Towns and Communities would be futile, Lolo Mmonu went ahead to pledge commitment to the vision of the association as well as to its growth and unity.

Speaker after speaker passionately harped on love and unity. The highpoint of the event was a dancing competition courtesy of Lolo Carole Chika – Mmonu, which saw both women and men line up to display their dancing skills. At the end of the competition, the winners and their runners- up were presented with household items and cash gifts. Still in her benevolence, Lolo Mmonu went ahead to put smiles in the face of everyone who took part in the competition by making them part with cash gifts and household items.

However, ISTDAL President, High Chief Chris Ekeocha, commended the 2022, Imo Day Cultural Carnival, chaired by Hon. Chief Chima Ukwandu, for showing high level of commitment which in no doubt translated to a very successful event. The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Buttressing the statement, High Chief Ekeocha reassured members that individual and community efforts would be appreciated with handsome rewards from 2023 upwards. He announced the sum of N50,000 as part of the reward package for a committed member or community which he said would be given out at next year’s get together.

The President Emeritus, ISTDAL, Women Wing, Chief Mrs. Lilian Amakor also graced the event. However, an agreement prayer was made by members for a very safe and peaceful Christmas celebration and also for a very prosperous 2023.
