MOD Movement of Nigeria Holds Maiden National Security Summit and its 98th SMC Session
… as National President Solicits Support for New vision
The Man of Order and Discipline (MOD) Movement of Nigeria has summoned her first National security summit and 98th SMC meeting at Cardinal Ekandem Seminary and St Brian’s Model College both in Uyo Diocese, Akwa Ibom State, from 19th to 23rd of August, 2026.
In an exclusive interview with National Impact Glitz Magazine in Uyo, the National President, MOD Gen. Sir Amb. Matthew Onyemauwa Nwaeze, revealed that the aim of this MOD National Security Summit is to equip members of the movement and by extension members of the church with the relevant knowledge, skills, and strategies needed to protect their worshiping communities and facilities from threats while fostering a safe, welcoming environment for worship through effective collaboration with the relevant security agencies.
In his words, “this national summit will study the nature of insecurity peculiar to our environment and draw up a Communique to the leadership of the Catholic Church on ways to protect the church of God in this difficult time.”

has exclusive service objectives as follows:
Promote Safety and Preparedness
– Educate church members, staff, and volunteers on identifying potential threats (e.g., active shooters, vandalism, or kidnapping).
Strengthening Community Awareness
– Teach members of the organization to recognize suspicious behaviour and foster a culture of vigilance without fear or paranoia.
– Encourage collaboration between churches, law enforcement Agencies, and local communities to share resources and intelligence.
Train Security Teams
– Provide hands-on training for church security teams, including de-escalation techniques, crowd control, and use-of-force policies (if applicable).
– Offer workshops on first aid, CPR, and mental health crisis intervention.
Address Modern Threats
– Discuss how to combat cyber threats like phishing scams, online harassment, and data
breaches affecting church operations.
– Explore the use of surveillance technology, access controls, and mass communication
systems to enhance physical security.
Balance Security with Ministry
– Focus on maintaining a welcoming and compassionate environment while implementing
safety measures.
– Highlight the importance of spiritual care and community support even in the face of
security challenges.
Legal and Ethical Guidance
– Provide insights on liability issues, legal compliance, and insurance policies related to
church security.
– Emphasize ethical considerations in ensuring safety without compromising the church’s
mission or values.
According to the National President, ”this MOD administration cannot continue to fold their hands while things go wrong security wise around the Church and our environments.”
MOD Sir General Nwaeze urged government agencies, the Church, and concerned individuals to assist the MOD being a voluntary para-military organization to achieve her new vision.
Furthermore, the MOD General also appealed to members of MOD all over the nation to remain patriotic and diligent to duty not withstanding the challenges that come with discharging their duties. He equally assured them that with the new development, MOD will be restructured to something more exciting.
