Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON), has commended Ports and Terminal Multiservices Limited(PTML), for coming up with a Storage Waiver promo.

The organization on July 26, 2021, announced a special Storage Waiver Promo which it said was with “immediate effect”.

According to PTML, clients whose vehicles have been in the terminal for over 6 months shall pay storage charges for 60 days only, as the remaining storage accrued will be entirely waived. As contained in the promo advert, the company said it was mindful of the difficulties faced by its customers due to the present economic situation hence the gesture.

The offer which is valid till August 24, 2021 has drawn commendations from concerned individuals and groups. And APFFLON is one of the groups that have applauded the decision.

APFFLON, in a press release isssued to Journalists through its National President, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, described the step taken by PTML as laudable and exemplary, adding that the move would encourage those whose vehicles have been abandoned all the while to leverage on the promo to take delivery of their vehicles within the time frame.

Recall that APFFLON had weeks ago, kicked against 50% increase in handling charges by PTML, describing it as ill-timed. And that outcry by the group occasioned the unscheduled visit of the immediate past Executive Secretary/ CEO of Nigerian Shipper’s Council, Barr. Hassan Bello, to the Management, during which he appealed for the suspension of the increment.

When asked why he kicked against the 50% increase few weeks ago and turned round to applaud the promo, Ogunojemite said,”APFFLON is and will remain an advocacy group whose interest lies not only on trade facilitation but also on welfare and protection of freight agents in the ports industry. We will always condemn moves to impoverish the people who play great roles in generation of Federal revenue. We shall always commend those government policies with human face, applaud shipping companies, terminal operators and agencies of the government once they come up with innovations that would guarantee ease of doing business as well as policies that will not be lopsided and condemn in clear terms those harsh and unfriendly policies and procedures”.
