FRIENDS OF LATE OZO CHUKWURAH PAY CONDOLENCE VISIT TO THE PRESIDENT GENERAL OF ASIMPIN

ASSOCIATION OF IGBO MARITIME PRACTITIONERS IN NIGERIA- ASIMPIN

The attention of the President General of Association of Igbo Maritime Practitioners in Nigeria- ASIMPIN, His Royal Highness, Eze Damian Emeka Obianigwe, KSM, has been drawn to a report published on an online media platform, Daily Trend, captioned ” Maritime Elders Forum conducts election, removes Austen Kelly”. ASIMPIN wants everyone to disregard the story which is laced with lies from the pit of hell.

The general public, maritime stakeholders and maritime practitioners must not take the report seriously as there is absolutely nothing like Elders-in-Council of ASIMPIN, and any group that bears such name is making mockery of  itself as it is not part and parcel of ASIMPIN and is not recognized by the apex Igbo maritime body.

ASIMPIN, as a responsible organization, will  continue to identify with individuals and groups who believe in due process and not lawless people who converge at beer parlours to discuss how to destroy both individuals and well organized institutions for reasons best known to them.

ASIMPIN hereby disclaim any election that does not have the endorsement of the National Executive Committee – NECOM and that of the BoT of ASIMPIN. Such election is hereby declared null and void as it is not recognized by the apex Igbo maritime body.

Neither the NECOM nor the BoT of ASIMPIN recognizes any individual or group of persons parading themselves as Elders-in-Council of ASIMPIN, and will take neither them nor their lawless activities seriously.

It was resolved that the Elections of new Executive Members of ASIMPIN would take place immediately after the Biometric Identification Cards are issued to bonafide members of ASIMPIN, the agreement was reached at the NECOM meeting which was held of recent. At that meeting, members were advised to take part in the biometric screening so as to obtain identification cards which will serve as Voter’s cards.

We want to hereby inform members of ASIMPIN that the National Executive Committee of ASIMPIN will commence elections in various chapters in no distant time as measures are being put in place for a very smooth process.

Again, the National Executive Committee – NECOM of ASIMPIN disclaims any group parading itself as Elders in Council of ASIMPIN, we urge the general public and maritime practitioners to disregard the detractors as they roundly lack constitutional backing and do not serve the interest of ASIMPIN.

SIGNED:
Okey Egbuchulam
Secretary General,
ASIMPIN .
