AZUBUIKE TO INEC:
I WON ALIMOSHO FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY SEAT AND SHOULD BE DECLARED WINNER

By Mcanthony Onuoha

The candidate of Labour Party for Alimosho Federal Constituency of Lagos State in the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections, Engr. Azubuike Umeadi, has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to return him elected, insisting that the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate, Comrade Ganiyu Adele Ayuba, was not the authentic winner as declared.

Engr. Azubuike, having previously raised alarm during collation of results at Alimosho INEC Collation Center narrated that results sheets and other electoral materials were practically carted away by the APC candidate who stormed the venue accompanied by the Area Commander of Area M who came with over twenty his men in three pick up vans to disrupt the process.

The Labour candidate, Engr. Azubuike Umeadi, in an interview in Lagos, claimed that his party won the election with very wide margin and not the APC candidate as wrongly declared by INEC, even as he frowned at the role played by the security agencies during the exercise.

According to him, the Police, with the help of the Area Commander, Area M, invaded the collation centre, took the result sheet elsewhere, swapped it with the one the came with and declared the APC candidate winner of the election after which they asked them to approach the court.

“We are asking INEC to do the needful by giving us our mandate back. The voting process was very peaceful until we got to the collation centre, where the original result sheet was seized from the INEC Officials who were forced to announce the APC candidate winner when as scripted in the fake result sheet they came with. As at the time ,members of the PDP and other political parties had already started congratulating me as the winner of the election.”

“It’s so shameful that this kind of thing will be happening in this digital age. They never knew that people captured them on camera. When they discovered that we won, they regrouped themselves with the help of the Police, came and took away voting materials and went and declared another person winner.”

“We were asked us to go to court because they believe we cannot get anything from the court. We are Obidient, we must go and get the mandate of the people back because the Yorubas, the Igbos and the Hausas, all the ethnic groups voted for us in Alimosho. They wanted us to go and represent them and as l speak, most of them are not happy.”

“Some of them have been calling me on phone, asking me if I would keep quiet after all they suffered, never slept for three days, day and night, they were pursuing them with guns and cutlasses and they still voted and I won the election”, he said.
