The National President and Chairman, Board of Trustees of National Compliance Joint Taskforce of Licensed Customs Agents- NCJTFLCA, Chief Dr Basil Chudi Nwolisa, has called on Nigerians to vehemently reject anti people electoral law as well as those who passed it.

Addressing journalists in his Lagos office on Friday, 22nd May, 2026, Chief Nwolisa lamented the gross abuse of democracy and the level of recklessness and impunity being displayed by those in the corridors of power.

He roundly berated those who championed a fraudulent amendment of the electoral law to suit their personal interest, describing them as enemies of democracy.

Nwolisa shuddered at the level of impunity being displayed by the government by continually churning out anti- people policies, and other criminalities openly perpetrated by those who occupy public offices.

Speaking further, Nwolisa cautioned against the emasculation of democracy, and called on Nigerians to do everything in their power to resist those who now see occupation of elective offices as an opportunity to impoverish and dehumanize Nigerians, then weaponize hunger to advance their selfish political interests instead of a genuinely committing to lifting them out of poverty.

In his words, “Fellow Nigerians,
our democracy is under threat. Legislators who supported the passage of the most dubious, retrogressive, and draconian electoral law in Nigeria’s history have betrayed public trust.”

“In 2027, make sure you reject them at the polls.
Nigeria deserves laws that protect the people, and not laws that oppress them.
Nigeria deserves leaders who serve the people, not their own interests, so prepare, get your Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and be ready to vote them out.”

“We can no longer bear the hardship anymore. Most Nigerians are battling with depression, people are struggling too hard to put food on their tables, the situation is hellish to say the least.”

“Let’s set tribal and religious sentiments aside and fight to take back our country from self-serving leaders who have proven beyond reasonable doubt to be public enemies,” he stated.
