By Mcanthony Onuoha

The cerebral Customs Area Controller, Tincan Command, Compt. Dera Nnadi mni, has given the administrative block of the Command a facelift.

Before he embarked on the project, Tincan Customs Administrative block was unkept and looked completely worn out.

Compt. Nnadi not satisfied with the worn out facade, decided to carry out proper renovation of the administrative block. He started from the interior by repainting, tiling and lighting up offices.

COMPT. DERA NNADI ADDRESSING STAKEHOLDERS

Truly, the CAC’s innovative idea has given the Command a brand new look that anyone who steps into Tincan Customs Long-room, will deeply appreciate him for bringing total sanity to the Command.

The Renovation of Tincan Customs Administrative block has not only been commended by stakeholders, but will have Compt. Dera Nnadi’s name prominently and colourfully etched on the marble as the Controller that illuminated Tincan Command Administrative Building and Champion of a Cleaner Tincan Customs Longroom.

During an interactive session with Stakeholders on Monday, 30th of September, 2024, the CAC disclosed new modalities for doing business in the Command. He reiterated his theme for 2024 which is “Year of Stakeholders”. The Controller also emphasized that the well-being of Stakeholders remained his top priority.

According to Compt. Nnadi, “the well-being of all who come to do business in the Area Command is a priority to me, the Command, and the Service”. He appreciated the collaborative efforts of stakeholders and his team as the countdown to the last quarter of the year commences, reiterating a strong commitment towards achieving the revenue target, and called for total compliance. According to him, “all hands being on deck can make it happen”.

Furthermore, the CAC cautioned freight forwarders and importers against Circumvention of trade rules, especially in the ember season, being the last quarter of the year.

According to his statement, “genuine declaration from compliant traders will not experience delays, but those who think they can cut corners should have themselves to blame”.

Comptroller Nnadi also highlighted the availability of space for stakeholders at the newly created Bonded Terminals within Tincan Island Port and noted that the Command headquarters was still undergoing renovations and no additional space has yet been allocated for business operations. He promised to address the issue and assured stakeholders of improvement which he said, was underway. In the interim, the CAC urged all parties to maintain cleanliness within the premises while awaiting the distribution of new waste bins at designated locations. He further emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean environment saying it portrays a healthy lifestyle and reflects positively on the business community.

The interface ended with a question and answer segment as Compt. Dera Nnadi responded to most of the concerns raised, and promised to promptly address them.
