The MD/CEO of Sigaba Logistics Nigeria Limited, Hon. Chibuzo Valentine Ogamba, has commended the Customs Area Controller of Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command, Compt. Joy Edeldouk and her team for their recent landmark achievement in the fight against illicit drugs trafficking.

In line with the Comptroller General of Custom’s policy thrust of Collaboration, Innovation and Consolidation, the vigilant officers of KLT Command of Nigeria Customs Service, in conjunction with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA), intercepted 140 parcels of Cannabis Sativa, smuggled into Nigeria from Canada, weighing 51.25 kg, and valued at N256,250,000.00 as Street Price.

Compt. Edeldouk disclosed this to Journalists during the handing over of the drugs to National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) for thorough investigation and prosecution alongside the three suspects arrested in connection with the seizure.

In a statement personally signed and made available to The Prestige Magazine Online and print, Hon Chibuzo Ogamba, a staunch member of Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents- ANLCA, passed a vote of confidence on the CAC, describing the seizure as a landmark achievement in the war against illegal importation and suppression of unwholesome drugs .

The statement read in part, ” l wish to commend the Customs Area Controller of Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command, Compt. Joy Edeldouk and her team of vigilant officers for the massive seizure of unwholesome drugs carried out recently at the Command. The Comptroller by that singular feat, has sent a strong message to peddlers of illicit drugs who think that KLT Command is starkly porous for smugglers”.

” The Controller has raised a red flag for those who are bent on circumventing laid down trade rules and putting the lives of our young people in danger. And what these people seem not to know is that even their own children can be destroyed by the drugs they illegally import into this Country”.

” I hereby passionately urge those who indulge in this obnoxious act of unwholesome drugs importation to desist for the sake of their children and future generations.
I wish to pass a vote of confidence on the CAC, l strongly believe that if given maximum support, she will do better than her predecessors. And l want to urge freight forwarders to give her the needed support to achieve more of this feat at KLT Command.”

Addressing Journalists at the event, Compt. Edeldouk said that 140 parcels of Cannabis Sativa smuggled into Nigeria, violated the provision of the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS) Act 2023, Section 55, Subsection 1c and 1f”.

“The interception is a testament to the continued dedication and commitment to safeguarding Nigerian Boarders from the importation of illicit and harmful substances,” the statement read.

Finally in his statement, Hon. Chibuzo Ogamba expressed optimism that Compt. Joy Edeldouk and her team would revive the Command and make it business friendly for importers and freight forwarders.
