Importers Association of Nigeria- IMAN has applauded the appointment of Mr. Abubakar Dantsoho as the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA)

Mr. Dantsoho who was appointed recently by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, replaced Muhammed Bello-Koko who served in that capacity for three years.

In a congratulatory letter that emanated from the office of the National Vice President of Importers Association of Nigeria-IMAN, High Chief (Dr.) George Ndubisi, and sighted by the Prestige Magazine, the Association commended the appointment of the new MD, describing him as an insider and an experienced maritime personality, saying that his appointment was well deserved.

HIGH CHIEF (DR.) GEORGE NDUBISI, NATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT, IMPORTERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (IMAN)

According to IMAN, ” your appointment as Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority -NPA is highly commendable considering your rich credentials and years of experience as an insider and seasoned public officer, you are a core maritime personality who understand the Nigerian Ports industry and the numerous operational challenges facing it.

IMAN believe that with your wealth of knowledge as an administrative staff of the organization who rose from the ranks, before your appointment as Managing Director, we expect you to outperform your predecessors who occupied the office as politicians and not as technocrats, or trained staff of NPA. IMAN repose great confidence in you and strongly believe that you would do better as the Chief Gate officer of Nigerian Ports Authority.”

” While we felicitate you on your well deserved appointment, we urge you to use your good office to ensure that the Nigerian Seaports are formidably secured. Our ports lack adequate and formidable security in an era of radical scientific and technological innovations and advancements, so IMAN is of the opinion that you leave a legacy of highly fortified and formidably secured Nigerian Ports to boost investor’s confidence and return sanity to our port system.”

” IMAN is very keen about Ports security because overtime, importers keep complaining of losing some of their goods at the ports, either in the process of moving their vehicles to the car park or at examination bay.”

Meanwhile, IMAN in the congratulatory message, advised the new MD of NPA to operate an open door policy to allow for regular stakeholder engagement and interface as it would go a long way in addressing some of the challenges militating against seamless Ports operations.

IMAN through its National President, expressed optimism that the administration of Mr. Abubakar Dantsoho would revitalize the ports industry, reposition and reassert the NPA as a critical player in National economic recovery, urging him to deploy effort into replicating a model port system as seen in some advanced countries of the world.

However, IMAN in the letter, advised Dantsoho to collaborate with Nigerian Shipper’s Council and sister agencies to transform the ports system for efficiency and enhancement of productivity.
