…hails Lagos State Governor for opening up Apapa Port access road

The Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adawale Adeniyi MFR, has been commended for a 5 day Adminstrative and Operational Awareness Training for Declarants (Agents).

The well attended workshop which commenced from 11th of March and ended on the 15th of March took place at Customs Training College Ikeja, Lagos State.

According to the Nigeria Customs Service, the training of declarants (Agents) was targeted at providing comprehensive insight and guidance on the emerging administrative and operational trends in the Customs Clearance Process.

THE COMPTROLLER GENERAL OF CUSTOMS, BASHIR ADEWALE ADENIYI, MFR.

In a press release signed by the National President of APFFLON, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite and made available to The Prestige Blended Magazine, APFFLON stated that the workshop was a proof of the Comptroller General’s commitment to human capital development and commended him for approving the training, and also thanked everyone that participated in the programme as well.

Part of the press release read, “the large turn out of freight forwarders was a clear indication of their hunger for knowledge. APFFLON was amazed by the massive turn out and we must give kudos to the Comptroller General of Customs for approving the workshop, to all Commands’ Controllers and the facilitator, Comptroller Oluyomi Adebakin. The programme was a clear testament of the CG’s commitment to human capital development, and we want to say here that freight forwarders are happy with the gesture.”

” Even as we commend the CGC, we also want to use this opportunity to urge him to always carry stakeholders along even up to WCO programmes and other international conferences as such will make positive impacts on individual participants if at all they are targeted at enhancing collective and personal capacities and making participants true professionals.”

Reacting to the opening up of Apapa Port corridor by the Lagos State Government, APFFLON showered praises on the Lagos State Governor, His Excellency, Babajide Sanwo- Olu. According to the statement, ” we are very happy for this heroic feat and we believe that freight forwarders and other maritime stakeholders are also happy. The decision was a noble one, and we applaud the collaboration. A lot has happened on that corridor, many have lost their lives while some have been permanently disabled trying to navigate that corridor, before now, going to Apapa through that road was a big risk. APFFLON cannot thank the Governor enough, we admire his courage and will power.”

” We want to also commend the authorities for clearing the shanties raised in agglomeration along port access road, those things that do not portray us well as a nation are not supposed to be allowed especially in a metropolitan city like Lagos. The port environment should be kept clean always because it is an international business area.”

“Once again APFFLON want to thank freight forwarders who made out time to partake in the workshop and urge them to always make themselves available for such programmes in future because knowledge, they say, is power, ” the statement read.
