As redeployed Officers and Men of Nigeria Customs are yet to settle down at their new duty posts, official hand over is still ongoing at different Zones, Commands and Units.

The new Customs Area Controller, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command, Compt. Martina Tilly Gyado was yesterday, Friday, the 15th of September, 2023, formally assumed office after being handed over by the immediate past Controller, Compt. Timinadi Bomodi.

Speaking at brief ceremony, the outgoing Customs Area Controller, who was in charge of the Command for 9 months stated that the Command raked in N36.93 Billion, representing a 22.44% increase when compared to the N30.16 Billion recieved within the period in 2022, noting that it represented 59.37% of the total expected revenue for 2023.

He also noted the enhanced commitment to cooperation between sister agencies and stakeholders alike which culminated in the repair of the very bad access road leading into the Command, he decried the under utilization of the potentials of the Command as he said that less than 10% of the Command’s facilities was in use.

CAC Bomodi stated that the average time taken to clear goods from the Command was 48 hours and that it was in line with the trade facilitation policy of the Service, affirming that stakeholders engagement has been very rewarding and that this would also benefit the incoming administration.

Bomodi expressed appreciation for Officers and men of the Command saying that he was lucky to have worked with “extremely disciplined and professional officers,” as he was optimistic that the target for the year will be met. CAC Bomodi also solicited support for Gyado from officers of the Command urging them to grant the new CAC the same kind of cooperation that he enjoyed with them.

Officers and stakeholders extolled the virtues of Compt. Bomodi, as there was an outpour of tributes as some of them expressed
optimism that the new CAC would do better.

Meanwhile, the new Customs Area Controller of KLT Command, Compt. Martina Tilly Gyado,(Mrs.) in her speech, stated that she was going to deploy emotional intelligence in the discharge of her duty as she had served previously as the Deputy Comptroller, Revenue, at the Command. She also added that she would adopt emotional intelligence strategy and apply Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis in revenue collection, anti- smuggling, trade facilitation and robust stakeholder engagement to improve compliance. She promised to run an open door policy at the command.

She also emphasized that she was not aversed to both positive and negative criticisms as long as it would benefit the Command. She as well tasked officers and men for robust cooperation
while thanking everyone for honouring her with their presence at the occassion.
