Lagos, March 16, 2023 (NAN) A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Mathew Ogunyase and Mr Albert Fadonuogbo, said that the emulation of the good works of late Archbishop John Kwao-Aggey by present leaders, would improve on the human society and halt societal crisis.

The priest and the faithful, made the assertion on Thursday at the annual Archbishop Aggey’s momorial Thanksgiving Mass celebrated in honour of the high priest, whose service impacted positively on the people.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos reports that the memorial held at the St. Christopher Catholic Church Ipaja Lagos, x-rayed Aggey’s services rendered to the people for others to emulate.

It reports that the event organised by the Archbishop John Kwao Amuzu Aggey Foundation and the Ave Maria Society Council, was to revered the man of God that lived from 1908 to 1972.

It was a solm Mass where people that knows the Bishop took turn to pour encomium on the man many referred as a saint among humans.

Speaking with NAN at the end of the event, Rev. Fr. Mathew Ogunyase who doubled as the Chaplain for the foundation, said that, he was barely a year-old when the priest died.

He described Aggey as an epitomy of peace and love whose crave for societal harmony transcends human reasoning.

“I grow-up to know him as one that worked to harmonise families and communities together. He goes out of his way to ensure hungry ones in the society gets something to eat. His prayers and deeds always is on the betterment of the people

“It is a privilege to speak on the respected departed man of God and pro-people leader.

“I begin to hear about his good deeds as an infant many of the structures i witnessed in terms of churches and schools,” he said.

Ogunyase, decried the pervading hunger in the land, called on leaders in all facets to emulate the former Bishop that gave all for the advancement of the human person.

Also speaking with NAN earlier at the event, Fadonuogbo, a member of the Order of the Keight of Saint Christopher (KEC) said that, leadership role models abound but the trouble with the society was the inability of leaders to emulate from the good ones.

He said that the last presidential election in Nigeria has to a large extent shown that the people could decide what they want aside from what the leaders want.(NAN)
