Associates and professional colleagues of Late Deputy President General of Association of Igbo Maritime Practitioners in Nigeria (ASIMPIN), Prince Ozo Chukwurah, led by the Former Vice President of ANLCA, Dr Collins Kayode Farinto, on Friday, 24th of April 2026, paid a condolence visit to HRH Eze Amb. Damian Emeka Obianigwe KSM, JP., President General of ASIMPIN.

Late Prince Chukwurah , Chieftain and Former Member Board of Trustees of Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) died on Monday, 9th of March 2026, after a protracted illness.

Speaking at the visit, ANLCA Chieftain, Former National Secretary and Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Otunba Abdulaziz Mukaila, expressed sadness over the demise of Prince Ozo Chukwurah whom he described as a pillar and a formidable force in maritime Unionism, and regretted that his death occurred at a time his leadership was needed most.

Otunba Mukaila said that the purpose of the visit was to commiserate with the President General of ASIMPIN and all the members over the huge loss, and prayed God Almighty to grant his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss.

In his response, the PG of ASIMPIN, HRH Eze Amb. Damian Emeka Obianigwe KSM, JP., described Prince Chukwurah’s death as a colossal loss not only to Igbo Maritime Practitioners but to the entire maritime industry, and prayed God to forgive him his shortcomings and grant his soul eternal rest.

The PG eulogized the leadership qualities of Ozo Chukwurah referring him as a good friend and professional colleague.

In his speech, the Vice President of Oodua Maritime, Mr Ojo Peter Akintoye, regretted the inability of the leadership of ANLCA to pay a condolence visit to ASIMPIN over the death of its Deputy President General, Ozo Chukwurah till date. He blamed it on lackadaisical approach to leadership and a lack of direction.

He expressed shock that the leadership of the Association has done practically nothing to appreciate the priceless contributions of Prince Ozo Chukwurah to the unity and progress of ANLCA over the years.

Responding , The ASIMPIN PG said he was not bordered by actions or inactions of fellow humans since no one is perfect, adding that everyone must not reason alike, and as faces of people are not the same so also are their reasonings. He pointed out that everyone has a date with death, and must die someday, and advised the living to always do the right thing as staying alive is a divine grace.

In his vote of thanks, Chief Ben Anyanwu appreciated the PG of ASIMPIN for displaying a high level of empathy by deeply involving in the funeral arrangements of Prince Ozo Chukwurah, thanking him for being a leader indeed.

Among the associates were Dr Kayode Collins Farinto, Otunba Abdulaziz Mukaila, Mr Ojo Peter Akintoye, the Coordinator, Western Zone, Mr Femi Anifowose, Ms Esther Toyin Oyeleke and Chief Ben Anyanwu among others.
