COMPTROLLER GENERAL OF CUSTOMS, BASHIR ADEWALE ADENIYI, MFR

Importers Association of Nigeria (IMAN) has congratulated the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Bashir Adeniyi MFR, his Management team and the Nigeria Customs Board for successfully promoting, appointing and decorating four thousand two hundred and ninety one officers of the Nigeria Customs.

HIGH CHIEF (DR.) GEORGE NDUBISI, VICE PRESIDENT, IMPORTERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (IMAN)

IMAN also congratulated all newly promoted officers of the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS). In a congratulatory message signed by its National Vice President, High Chief (Dr.) George Ndubisi and made available to the media, IMAN described the officers as worthy citizens, adding that the appointment of DCG Chiroma and eight (8) new ACGs, and the promotion of four thousand two hundred and ninety one (4,291) Senior officers by the Nigeria Customs Board (NCSB)was not informed by nepotism or favoritism, but by merit.

In the message, IMAN congratulated DCG S Chiroma, ACG MS Yusuf, ACG HK Ejibunu, ACG D Hassan, ACG ZM Gaji, ACG GM Omale, ACG OA Adebakin, ACG DA Nnadi, Comptroller Aminu Sule, Comptroller AM Alkali, Comptroller AA Alkali, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, and other newly promoted Comptrollers, Deputy Comptrollers and Assistant Comptrollers on their elevation to new ranks.

Meanwhile, in a press release by the office of the National Public Relations Officer(NPRO) of the Nigeria Customs Service, it stated that “the newly confirmed appointments of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Management team are to fill the vacancies created based on the retirement of some management team members from the affected geopolitical zones of the federation. The action further aligns with the Services’s commitment to national inclusivity, institutional balance; and adherence to the Federal Character Policy as outlined in Section 14(4) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act.2023″.

” Furthermore, the promotion of senior officers highlights the exceptional performance of both General Day (GD) and Support Staff(SS) personnel during the 2024 promotion exercise. A breakdown of the 4,291 officers elevated are as follows: 80 Deputy Comptrollers(DC) advanced to Customs Comptroller (CC),151 Assistant Comptrollers (AC) to Deputy Comptroller(DC) and 612 Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) to Assistant Comptroller(AC).”

However, IMAN in the congratulatory message, assured the newly promoted officers of their collaboration, stating that its 100% Compliance team would always assist the Nigeria Customs Service to forestall the activities of non-compliant importers whose stock in trade is to circumvent trade rules. The group tasked the newly promoted officers on professionalism and selflessness in the discharge of their duties.
