Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners -CONMMEP recently, honoured the Tin Can Customs Command Spokesperson, CSC OE Ivara alongside other personalities with outstanding records of performance in their various beats as the association marked its 5th anniversary.


CONMMEP, an advocacy group formed in 2021, on June 25th and 26th- 2026, celebrated five years of growth, resilience, progress, and impactful contributions to the Nigerian Maritime Industry.

CSC Ivara was among those nominated for CONMMEP Leadership Excellence Awards which were presented during the association’s Annual Lecture cum 5th Anniversary held in Ikeja, Lagos.

Ivara was particularly recognized for his outstanding performance and was honoured as Customs Commands’ Best
Public Relations Officer.


Ivara’s consistent excellence in public communication, stakeholder engagement and transparency as a public officer and his other Key achievements which include his 13 years of professional and responsive media relations across high- volume Commands. His engagement with maritime journalists which has fostered trust, reduced misinformation and strengthened NCS- media collaboration summed up to earn him the recognition.

Ivara’s digital advocacy vis a vis championing of the B’Odogwu clearance system at TinCan Command for enhanced compliance and operational efficiency as well as revenue transparency, especially, the timely publication of N347.93bn Q1 2025 revenue and the N16.41bn single day record on 19 August, 2025 were all cited by CONMMEP.

Responding after the presentation, Ivara profoundly thanked CONMMEP for the recognition and assured would not take the honour for granted. He congratulated the association on her 5th anniversary and pledged the Command’s continued collaboration with the media.


According to Ivara, ” reward for hard work is more work, and l wish to deeply appreciate CONMMEP for finding me worthy of this honour, l am really humbled and will not take this recognition for granted.
On behalf of the Customs Area Controller of TinCan Island Port Command, Compt. Joseph Anani, and the entire Tincan Customs, l congratulate CONMMEP on her 5th Anniversary, and pledge for TinCan Command’s continued collaboration with CONMMEP and the maritime media.”

In his reaction, the President of CONMMEP, Comrade Udo Onyeka, promised that CONMMEP as an advocacy group, would continue to reward professionalism by specially recognizing and protecting public officers and other maritime practitioners who have distinguished themselves through their invaluable contributions to the growth of the sector.
