As the news of total reconciliation and the return of peace to the foremost Association in the Ports industry continue to sound so pleasant to the ears of lovers of peace and progress, it is quite imperative that quality decisions be taken to blend the landmark achievement which was made a reality by industry players and men of goodwill .

The engine room of every organization is its Secretariat, and overtime, some organizations have been submerged because of gross incompetence on the side of their Chief Scribes. The office of the General Secretary is not ceremonial, it requires the occupant of that exalted office to be up and doing, sufficiently keep abreast of its Constitutional provisions, ethical conducts and accurate documentation for future reviews and references .

As a close observer and Ports industry stakeholder, and by virtue of my close relationship with the current ANLCA NECOM led by Honourable Tony Iju Nwabunike, I make bold to say that the outgoing General Secretary of ANLCA, Alhaji Abduaziz Mukaila is indeed leaving a very big shoes that will require someone with verifiable level of competence, diligence, organizational ingenuity and celebrated maturity to step into.

The importance of the Secretariat should not be overemphasized and that is why primordial sentiment and every sense of entitlement must be jettisoned in choosing a candidate to take charge as General Secretary.

As it were, if not for the crises that rocked ANLCA for five consecutive years, the outgoing administration would have left indelible footprints in Ports industry because of their professionalism and sufficient knowledge of the industry.

Another opportunity beckons as the Association is set to elect a new set of its National Executive into various offices, one thing that is worth cheering about is having a veteran Customs licensed Agent and very revered Elder Statesman, an interesting character with verifiable level of competence, a man of integrity and capacity, Chief Chuks A. Okoro declare his interest to serve in that capacity.

Chief Chuks Okoro, Chairman/CEO, Oboloka International Company Limited. joined the association in 1988 and has remained a very dedicated member up until this day.

Chief Okoro, a Chartered Administrator, holds a Bsc degree in Economics, and Advanced Diploma in Shipping and Ports Administration, he is Member, Nigerian Institute of Administration as well as Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Shipping. He has also attended series of other professional courses and has been honoured with myriads of awards and certifications locally and internatioally.

Chief Chuks Okoro is Former Task Force Secretary, TICP, Former Task Force Chairman,KLT, Former Interim Chapter Secretary, Apapa, as well as Former National Committee Chairman, Security and Agency Relations.

Tested & trusted, reliable and transparent, he has been an advocate of seamless clearing procedures and moreso, an accurate record keeper with exceptional innovative ideas. If elected as General Secretary of ANLCA, Chief Chuks Okoro will in no doubt effectively ensure that the management of the Secretariat is digitalized for excellent archiving and auditing, and will maintain superb working relationship and unalloyed commitment to the reengineering of the Association’s image.

Nevertheless, Chief Okoro understands the challenges and responsibilities attendant to the office he is aspiring for and is very prepared to face and shoulder them with diligence and unparalleled commitment.
