EFFEDUA, RECTOR, MAN ORON, VIOLATES COURT PROCESS, MOVES AGAINST MARITIME JOURNALIST
** Arranges kangaroo trial while case is yet to be decided by another Court
The legal battle between the Rector of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, MAN, Oron, Comdr. Emmanuel Duja EFFEDUA, and Publisher of Experience Times Newspaper and ROAMREPORTERS Online, has taken a more disturbing dimension.
Report reaching The Prestige Blended Magazine Online confirmed that the Rector had earlier today, Thursday, perfected the arrest and detention of Citizen Innocent Orok by personnel of the Nigeria Police from PANTI, Yaba, Lagos, pending his planned arraignment tomorrow Friday, 10th of June,2022, at Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos.

According to our source, Emmanuel Effedua has instituted a libel case against the reporter in September 2021, at an Uyo High Court, the Akwa Ibom State Capital. Even when Effedua and his Lawyers failed to show up in all the seven sittings of the Court in the last nine months, he rather resolved to use his office to intimidate and humiliate Citizen Innocent Orok by petitioning the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on the same matter, abandoning the Court proceess he instituted against him at Uyo Federal High Court in September 2021.
The Prestige Blended Magazine gathered that the reporter got an invitation from the PANTI POLICE on the 2nd of March 2022, on honouring the invitation in company of some of his colleagues, it was disclosed that the same matter, the Rector instituted at Uyo Federal High Court was the same matter he brought to PANTI POLICE. However, it was gathered that the Police being in possession of the court papers and a statement from the reporter, assured that since the matter was already in court, they would not intervene.
But contrary to the assurance earlier given, on Tuesday, 7th of June, 2022, the PANTI POLICE called the reporter back and asked him to present himself at PANTI – Yaba, today, Thursday. On getting to there, the Police presented a fresh charge instituted at Ikoyi High Court in Lagos on the same matter by the Rector of Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) Oron; the Police also went ahead to detain the Journalist pending his arraignment on Friday.
It is noteworthy that while the 8th adjournment at the Uyo High Court comes up on Monday, 13th June 2022, the Rector and the Police are charging the Journalist on the same matter that is yet to be decided at Uyo Federal High Court.
The Reporter has cried out to the general public of gross intimidation and flagrant violation of an ongoing court proceess as well as his human rights, stating that his life and that of his family members are no longer safe.
