The Aseyin of Iseyin Land, Oba Dr. Sefiu Olawale Adeyeri III, has reaffirmed the continuous support and cooperation of the Iseyin community towards the Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun Area Command, in its efforts to combat smuggling, promote compliance and strengthen community engagement. The monarch stated this on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, when he led his entourage on a courtesy visit to the Command, where he was received by the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Wale Moses Adewole, and members of the Command’s management team.

In his remarks, the Aseyin of Iseyin land expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage, noting that the visit was to reciprocate the courtesy visit paid to the Iseyin community by the Ag. Customs Area Controller during his stakeholder engagements with traditional institutions across the Command.

Oba Sefiu Olawale commended the Ag. Customs Area Controller for his achievements in revenue generation and anti-smuggling operations, assuring him of the continued support and cooperation of the Iseyin community towards the achievement of the Command’s operational goals. He also reiterated the community’s commitment to continuous sensitisation on the dangers of smuggling and other trans-border crimes.

The monarch further commended the Ag. Customs Area Controller for recognising the importance of traditional institutions, particularly his engagements with the Alaafin of Oyo, Soun of Ogbomoso, Iba of Kishi, Okere of Saki and Onigbeti of Igbeti, among others. He also appreciated the Controller’s efforts in strengthening synergy with critical stakeholders and community leaders across the Command.

In his response, the Ag. Customs Area Controller Deputy Comptroller Wale Moses Adewole, expressed appreciation to the Aseyin and his entourage for the visit, noting that the monarch was the first traditional ruler to pay a courtesy visit to the Command since his assumption of office as Acting Customs Area Controller. He described the gesture as significant and reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining cordial relations and collaboration with traditional institutions and other critical stakeholders.

The visit further underscored the importance of effective community–Customs relations in promoting voluntary compliance, curbing smuggling, enhancing security and supporting the broader mandate of the Nigeria Customs Service.
