The Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria (MAAN) has extended warm congratulations to Mr. Sylvanus Obasi on his election as Vice President of the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN), describing his emergence as well-deserved and reflective of his professional excellence.

In a statement jointly signed by MAAN President, Mrs. Jean Chiazor-Anishere, and the Secretary, Mrs. Foluke Akinmoladun, the association lauded Obasi’s election as a clear testament to his dedication, integrity, and outstanding contributions not just to maritime journalism, but also to capacity development, youth empowerment and mentorship as well as gender advocacy in the maritime sector.

MAAN noted that Mr. Obasi has consistently distinguished himself over the years as a committed media practitioner with deep insight into the maritime sector as his incisive reportage and consistent engagement with key industry stakeholders on contemporary issues have significantly enriched discourse within the maritime community.

The statement further emphasized that his professional track record reflects a strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and sectoral development.

MAAN expressed confidence that his tenure as Vice President of MARAN will further strengthen the association’s role in promoting informed discussions within the maritime industry as MARAN continues to serve as a critical stakeholder platform for advancing transparency and sustainable development in the sector.

MAAN further noted that both associations have enjoyed cordial relations over time, built on mutual respect and professional engagement, adding that Obasi’s leadership role presents an opportunity to deepen that collaboration between MAAN and MARAN in pursuit of shared industry objectives.

“As a foremost professional body committed to the advancement of maritime arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, MAAN looks forward to sustaining and deepening the cordial relationship existing between the two esteemed associations in pursuit of mutual professional and industry objectives”.

The association concluded by wishing Mr. Obasi and the newly elected MARAN executive led by Mr Oluyinka Onigbinde a successful and impactful tenure in office.
