LAGOS STATE NNPP YOUTHS LEADER CAUTIONS AGAINST POLITICAL THUGGERY
By Mcanthony Onuoha
The New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), Youths Leader, Lagos State, Fwdr. Philip Emeka Nwankwo, has cautioned the youths wing of the party against political thuggery.
Fwdr. Nwankwo, in a press release he personally signed and made available to the media, urged the youths to be law abiding and never submit themselves as willing tools for disruption of peace and unity wherever they are.
Conveying a message from the Founder and Chairman, Board of Trustees of NNPP, Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, Nwankwo appealed to the youths not to see members of sister political parties as enemies, but partners in nation building.
In his words, ” we should not play into the hands of those who do not mean well for us, we can not destroy our destinies because of paltry sums offered to us by desperate politicians. Their children are all abroad studying and preparing themselves for future leadership roles, while they engage our youths in political thuggery and sundry crimes. We are not thugs and we must always strive to be on the path of the law. We are not at war with our sister political parties. As responsible citizens we must always criticize constructively, hold our leaders accountable according to the provision of the law and not to take the laws into our hands”.
According to Fwdr. Emeka Nwankwo, “we must not antagonize our leaders. The Founder has advised we should be law abiding citizens and that’s why we have not resorted to violence despite all manner of provocations by those who want to hijack the party and run it down. The NNPP Youths Wing have displayed high level of maturity, maintaining decorum in the face of unwarranted provocations.”
“Those who because of stomach infrastructure, submit themselves as willing tools to destroy our party, we would want to let them know that we know them, and we are keeping eyes on them. And we want to advise them to change their evil ways or look for another party. If they are not working for the progress of our great party, they are working against it, and we suggest they change or quit the party for good.”
“We have watched with utter consternation, the tremendous disservice Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso has been doing to NNPP, his actions have been stripping him of trust and reliability, painting the North black in the eyes of most of us in the South, while as there are credible and honest men and women in the North. His case has been that of betrayal of trust, and it is not a good badge of character.”
“We need people who are ready to support the party, those who are willing to work for the progress of our great party, not individuals or groups that would want to hijack the party and run it down. I want to say a big thank you to the leadership of our party. We thank our Founder and Chairman Board of Trustees, Dr. B.O Aniebonam, for his doggedness and continued support, we want to also thank the National Chairman of the Party, Comrade Gilbert Agbo Major for his steadfastness. We, at the Youth Wing, commend his efforts in unifying the party. We thank the National Working Committee (NWC) for their support and collaboration with the Party Chairman in keeping the party’s flag flying. Our prayer is for God Almighty to grant them the wisdom and knowledge to lead the party in the right direction”, the statement read.
