The leadership of Association of Igbo Maritime Practitioners in Nigeria (ASIMPIN), Tincan Chapter, on Friday, 17 of October 2025, paid an official visit to DC Idris and AC AI Olubodun.

The Tincan Chapter of the Apex Igbo Maritime Body led by its Chairman, Chief Isaac Ndukwe (Okwa dike), in company of the Vice Chairman Tincan Chapter of Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents(ANLCA), Ogbueshi Sonniel Onochie, met with the Deputy Comptroller, Five Star Container Terminal, Idris and the Assistant Comptroller AI Olubodun, Gate Officer, Roro Port .

Speaking after the formal introduction of Chapter executive by the PRO, ASIMPIN, Tincan Chapter, Prince Kelechi Nkwazema, the Chairman, Chief Isaac Ndukwe, thanked DC Idris and AC AI Olubodun for receiving him and his team with open arms, saying that the warm welcome was an indication that the two officers understand the importance of Customs/ Stakeholders collaboration in revenue generation.

 

 

On behalf of ASIMPIN Tincan Chapter, he passed a vote of confidence on the Customs Area Controller, Tincan Command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, describing him as a thorough bred Officer, adding that his open door policy has strengthened collaboration between the Tincan Command and industry stakeholders, and urged both of them to also replicate the open door policy of the CAC in their relationship with clearing agents so as to engender a friendly and more enabling working environment.

In his response, AC AI Olubodun thanked Chief Isaac Ndukwe and his team for the honour accorded to them noting that the Nigeria Customs Service can not work in isolation, “there is no how Customs can function as revenue collectors without working closely with Clearing Agents, and that is why we try as much as we can to maintain the already established working relationship with relevant stakeholders of which clearing agents are both integral and foremost.”

 

“Personally, my door is open to every stakeholder, we are public servants and we can never work in isolation. We need each other to succeed, and l want to urge you and your team to always collaborate with the Nigeria Customs. You don’t need to cut corners by making wrong or under declaration or aiding smugglers. Once again, l thank ASIMPIN for making out time for this official visit.”

 

In his reaction, the Deputy Comptroller, Five Star Container Terminal, DC Idris expressed profound gratitude to the team for the familiarization visit. He promised to strengthen the existing relationship he met on ground at Five Star Logistics Terminal.”

 

Chieftain of ASIMPIN and Vice Chairman of ANLCA, Tincan Chapter, Ogbueshi Sonniel Onochie, in his response, described the two officers as “jolly good fellows who apart from the positions they occupy, remain very humble and accommodating,” adding that both officers look beyond tribe while carrying out their official duties.


Aside the official visit, ASIMPIN Tincan Chapter same day, joined one of their members, Chief Oscar Nwachukwu in celebrating his Recognition and Merit Award by his Community, Alaocha Ubakala Development, at their Lagos Conference – As The Aku Gbara Gburugburu of Alaocha, Ubakala- Lagos Branch. The Recognition and Merit Award was presented to him on Saturday, 11th October, 2025.

 

The Chairman, Chief Isaac Ndukwe on behalf of ASIMPIN, Tincan Chapter, congratulated Chief Oscar Nwachukwu on the Merit Award. He described the recognition as heart warming, saying that it gives one the courage to do more . He urged members of ASIMPIN to always key into every developmental project initiated by their communities, and also identify with their people by always attending both village and town meetings.

 

Chief Nwachukwu thanked members for their brotherly love, urging everyone never to relent in adding values to their respective communities. He said that the Recognition/Merit Award was a moral booster and the energizer he needed to always get involved in community development initiatives.
