ASIMPEC INSISTS CHAPTER ELECTION WILL HOLD AS SCHEDULED

The Chairman of Association of Igbo Maritime Practitioners in Nigeria Electoral Commission- ASIMPEC, Mr. Chijioke Nkwazema, has reassured that ASIMPIN Chapter elections will hold as scheduled.

The Chapter elections have been slated for Thursday, 5th of December, 2024. According to the Chairman, all chapters will partake in electing their executives in the exercise which will hold simultaneously.

 

As at the time of filling this report, screening of candidates from all the chapters was still ongoing.

 

The Chairman, expressed concern over the conduct of some of the candidates, and cautioned against violence or any form of attack before, during and after the elections.

 

Mr. Nkwazema disclosed that the Commission has received deluge of petitions which they are taking time to go through before taking final decision on defaulters. He stated that any complaint that can not be resolved by the Commission would be forwarded to the appropriate quarters where decision would be taken and adequate sanctions applied.

 

According to the Chairman, ” we are an electoral body set up by the National leadership of ASIMPIN, whatever decision we take here must be duly communicated to the leadership. Those that are beyond us shall be tabled before them. I want to appeal to every candidate for this election, to conduct him/herself responsibly before, during and after the elections. There is no going back on the date, 5th of December is sacrosanct, the election will hold as scheduled.

 

We have successfully carried out screening of candidates, and l can assure you that nothing will stop us from conducting the election on Thursday, so every candidate should get ready.”

 

“ASIMPEC is assuring every candidate of a very free, fair and credible election. And we want to urge those who will emerge victorious in the election to be magnanimous in victory, ASIMPIN is one, and we are all brothers,” he stated.
