Founder of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and Members of its Board of Trustees have written the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) notifying him of their plan to take over the affairs of the party pending the resolution of its leadership crises.
Writing through its Councel, Templum Solicitors, in a letter dated 3rd of April, 2024, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), reminded the Chairman of the crises rocking the party since after the conclusion of the general election.
The Crises led to the expulsion of the Presidential candidate of the Party, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso, and the subsequent dissolution of the Abba Kawu led Executive of the party on the 22nd of September, 2024, by the resolution of its Board of Trustees in a meeting held in Lagos.
According to the law firm, ” our clients informed us that after the meeting, they thought they have restored peace to the party, unfortunately, it became the beginning of greater crises within the party, and same has lingered on for quite sometime now with the factions filing different matters in different courts.”
” Our clients further informed us that because of the lingering disputes within the party, the party is at the crossroads with potential members not knowing which faction to join.”
“Consequent upon the above, and in connivance with the provision of Article 12,3,4(a) of the New Nigeria People’s Party 2022, the Founder in conjunction with the members of Board, have decided to take over the affairs of the party pending the final determination of all the lingering leadership disputes currently before the different courts of the federation in order to keep the party intact.”
Meanwhile, NAGAFF, recently accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of complicity in its internal crises. In a press release signed by the National Secretary of the Party, Mr. Sunday Olaposi Oginni, and made available to the media, NNPP frowned at the presence of INEC at the National Conference of Sen.Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso led faction of the NNPP despite the yet to be determined court cases and an official prior notice of disapproval of the conference by the Founder and the Board via their legal team.
In another development, the NNPP had on Thursday 16th of May, 2024 held a fervent prayer session seeking the face of God in the leadership crises rocking the party.
The prayer session which was convened by its Founder, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, was held at the National Headquarters of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders- NAGAFF at 2A, Maybin Street, Apapa, Lagos.
Addressing journalists after the prayer session, Dr. Aniebonam expressed undiluted faith in God for divine resolution of all the leadership crises and other internal disputes bedeviling the party. He stated that he would keep seeking the face of God in event crises because he is a child of God.
He advised mischief makers to honourably sheath their swords and embrace peace as the party has no other founder aside him and can not be taken over by someone who joined the party less than a year and six months ago.
He faulted Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for erroneously trying to tamper with the party’s official logo without the consent of the Founder and the National Working Committee, accusing him of fueling the party’s internal crises.
