HOPE UZODIMMA AND ABRACADABRA POLITICS
It is today a common knowledge that the Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, has been relishing his satanic political manouverings and Emperor’s status in what is now the most vulnerable and abused state in Nigeria.
In the words of Isaiah Berlin, ” those who have ever valued liberty for its own sake believe that to be free to choose and not be chosen for, is an inalienable ingredient in what makes human beings human”. To say the least, Imo State is today a conquered empire gasping for breath in the iron-fist stranglehold of the Omuma born tyrant who gatecrashed into Imo State Douglas House via a judicial conspiracy.
Imo is bleeding, the atmosphere looks so gloomy as hopelessness and emotional laceration informed by high level of insecurity and unprecedented jawdropping hostility by a satanic administration that carries out massive oppression with what, in the actual sense, is a misnomer; “Government of Shared Prosperity”, a name that is in conflict with the tragedy that every story from the state portrays.
Indeed, Uzodimma’s style of ‘rulership’ attests to the fact that he chose not to have any regards for humanity, and that informed his antidemocratic disposition, because had it been he was brought into office by a popular mandate, he would have known how well to relate with the people as a leader, having in mind that it takes great efforts, uncommon humility and empathy to win people’s support and mandate.
The 2023 elections in Imo State have prominently inscribed Uzodimma’s name in the compendium of Antidemocratic Lords who derive joy and happiness by kneeling on the neck of those they hijacked their mandates through judicial manouverings and forced them into submission.
Sad enough, Uzodimma, in his outlandish desperation to retain power in Imo State as Governor, has deployed his obsequious aids, political puppets and bootlickers, having bought over both the Commissioner of Police and Resident Electoral Commissioner with State’s fund to ensure he over ran the 27 local government areas, which they did as has shown by the final results announced by a dubios umpire. The Governor in cahoots with the aforementioned characters, altered the outcome of the State Assembly elections, alloting all the seats to his party, the APC, it is indeed shameful that the Imo State Governor can again descend this abysmally low, jettisoning whatever modicum of integrity that should have been attached to his character if at all there was still any left before the elections.
As it stands, Imo State has now become a jungle, a theatre of the absurd where one power drunk gladiator charges at every perceived political opponent, framing them up, and smacking down their interest and visiting all their concerns ; from livelihood to family and properties with violence. Uzodimma is indeed an albatross whose administration has continued to dim every light of hope in the State, because hijacking people’s mandate forcefully means dashing their hope, which is the highest level of political recklessness and criminality, it is a game played by politicians who seek power for self aggrandizement and not for the service of humanity.
Nevertheless, the criminalization of politics by the political class, which became so obvious in the last elections should be a thing of great concern as its consequences, going forward, will leave a horrifying imprint on both our individual and collective lives as well as on future elections as people may no longer want to believe in anything, be it the Electoral Umpire or the Democracy itself.
Who can perfectly describe what transpired in Imo State last Saturday, people were shocked to see the Speaker of Imo House of Assembly patrolling everywhere in a convoy of Police Armoured tank accompanied by Security personnel, intimidating voters and carting away ballot boxes, it is the height of recklessness, one begins to wonder aloud how Imo State, a one time Center of Hospitality and Eastern Heartland, increasingly assumed the status of a failed state, a blood letting field and a place of skull. At what shrine was the souls of the Governor and his aids were exchanged for that of orgres that now crave for human flesh and blood. Uzodimma is acting exactly like Idi Amin of Uganda and to my chagrin, the Presidency keeps welcoming him with open arms which nudges and gives him the temerity and effrontery to keep oppressing and unleashing mayhem on the people he claims to lead.
In Igbo palance, “Agbachaa oso aguo mile”!
