ABIA PDP RERUN: 3 ASPIRANTS STEP DOWN FOR OKEY AHAIWE
Sir. Okechukwu Ahaiwe, the immediate past Chief of Staff to Abia State Governor, is poised to pick the Governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party for Abia as three candidates have stepped down for the Knight of St. John International.
The three persons are; Barr Bob Ogu, Chief Eric Opah and Mrs Ezinwanyi Jonah.
The rerun became necessary following the unfortunate death of Prof. Eleazar Ikonne, the man that won the May governorship primaries of the PDP.
However at the primary election currently ongoing at the state capital Umuahia, the trio threw their weight behind Isiala Ngwa North born politician.
Their action might not be unconnected to the general acceptability of the former chief of Staff among the political gladiators in the state.
It could be recalled that Chief Okey Ahiwe was unanimously endorsed by the PDP Isiala Ngwa North caucus as the preferred candidate to replace late prof. Uche Ikonne as the state gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 general elections.
