Following the seizure of 14 vehicles by operators of Clarion Bonded Terminal, the 100% Compliance Team of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders, NAGAFF, led by Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko, has petitioned the CG of Nigeria Customs, Col. Hameed Ali,(Rtd).
The seizure of the said vehicles since July 2021, whose duties and other charges had been paid and probably cleared by freight forwarders, the team said, has become an issue of utmost concern as reasons for the seizure are roundly not their own fault.
In a protestation letter to the Controller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali, (Rtd), and copied to the Deputy Controller General of Customs, Trade and Tariff, the team via it’s National Coordinator, Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko, said that rather than carry out investigation on the alleged disappearance of 19 containers without following due process, the management of Clarion Terminal Limited has resorted to mindless blackmail and victimization by withholding the said vehicles.
However, the team has accused the Staff of Clarion Bonded Terminal of complicity saying that they collaborated with the consignee to mastermind the disappearance of the 19 containers. The team disclosed that no Terminal Delivery Order(TDO), was issued on any of the 19 containers, describing it as colossal revenue leakage.
Meanwhile, the Team therefore called on the CGC to prevail on the Clarion Terminal Limited to release the seized vehicles and also investigate the disappearance of the 19 containers whose C- numbers were listed in the letter from the Terminal .
