Dr Mustapha Congratulates Orbih, Olomu, Others on Their New Appointment, as Customs Promotes Officers

The Managing Principal of AZ De World Cargo Logistics Limited, Dr. Azeez Abayomi Mustapha Rff, FITMT, has congratulated Former Assistant Comptroller General of Customs, Zone A, now Deputy Comptroller General of Customs (DCG) Charles Orbih, and immediate past Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command, now Assistant Comptroller General of Customs (ACG) Babatunde Olomu PhD, on their appointment.
In a congratulatory message he personally signed and made available to The Prestige Blended Magazine online, he applauded the appointment of Charles Orbih and Babatunde Olomu PhD, as DCG and ACG respectively, saying that their elevation was a testament to their unwavering commitment to service of fatherland and decades of contributions to the continued transformation of the Nigeria Customs Service.
Dr Mustapha in the message described DCG Charles Orbih as a thorough bred and highly detribalised public officer.
Furthermore, Mustapha hailed the Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) for finding the immediate past Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command, Babatunde Olomu PhD, worthy of elevation. He described Olomu as Anti Smuggling Czar whose record of performance as Customs Area Controller would remain a reference point for a very long while.

The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB), at its 63rd regular meeting held on Tuesday, 2nd September 2025, approved the appointment of four Deputy Comptroller Generals (DCGs) and twelve Assistant Comptroller Generals (ACGs).
According to the press release signed by the National Public Relations Officer (NPRO) of Nigeria Customs Service, Abdullahi Maiwada PhD, the appointments were made to fill vacancies created by the recent retirement of some management members, while also strengthening equitable representation within the Service’s leadership structure. He also stated that the appointments were also in line with the availability of positions across the six geopolitical zones in strict compliance with the Federal Character Policy of the Government, as provided in Section 14(4) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.
The newly appointed DCGs according to the press release are: AB Muhammed (North-West), GO Omale (North- Central), OC Orbih (South -South). While the new ACGs include: MP Binga (North- East), AT Abe (North- West), K Muhammed (North -West), B Mohammed ( North – West), TM Daniyan (North- Central), B Oramalugo (South- East), OP Olaniyan ( South- West), B Olomu (South-West), IK Oladeji (South- West), and CC Dim (South- East).

Similarly, the Board approved the promotion of 3,312 senior officers across various ranks from Comptroller of Customs (CC) to Assistant Superintendent of Customs ll (ASC 11).
Additionally, the NCS Management, during its 6th Management Meeting held on Friday, 29 August 2025, approved the promotion of 202 Junior officers from Assistant Inspector AIC) to Customs Assistant l( CA1). These promotions according to NCS, underscore the Service’s commitment to merit – based career progression and recognition of outstanding performance.

In the message, Mustapha congratulated all the newly appointed DCGs, ACGs and other newly promoted officers urging them to remain patriotic and continue in the part of professionalism .
