ACFFT CALLS FOR EQUAL TREATMENT OF IMPORTERS BY NIGERIA CUSTOMS
… felicitates Christan faithful as they celebrate Easter

The Nigeria Customs Service has been urged not to marginalize importers of general cargo in its decision to remove the 25 percent penalty on wrongly declared imported vehicles.
In a goodwill message signed by the National Coordinator of Association of Concerned Freight Forwarders and Transporters- ACFFT Sir John Ubaka, and made available to The Prestige Blended Magazine Online, he congratulated Freight Forwarders and Transporters of Christan faith on a peaceful Easter celebration, and stressed the need for tolerance and love for one another.

Sir Ubaka expressed deep appreciation for Nigeria Customs Service and the Ministry of Finance for resolving to remove the 25 percent penalty on wrongly declared imported vehicles.
In his words, ” we would like to express our sincere appreciation for the Nigeria Customs Service for the recent decision to remove the 25 percent penalty on wrongly declared imported vehicles. This is a significant step in the right direction, and demonstrates a commitment to fair and just trade practices”.
” However, we are of the opinion that similar privileges be extended to importers of general cargo. It is essential for all importers to have a level playing field and a smooth process for bringing in their goods without the fear of facing harsh penalties or putting them up for auction sales.”
” As the National Coordinator of ACFFT, l urge the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, and other relevant bodies to consider our plea and extend these privileges to importers of general cargo. This will not only promote fairness and transparency but will significantly boost revenue and enhance trade and commerce in Nigeria as well.”
” We hope that our concerns will be given due consideration, and we look forward to a positive response from the Nigeria Customs and related authorities”.
In the goodwill message, Sir John Ubaka felicitated Christian Faithful in the maritime industry on a peaceful Easter celebration, he admonished them to emulate the exemplary life of Jesus Christ whose message dweled so much on love for one another, saying it was his love for humanity that made him sacrifice his life for mankind. Sir Ubaka called for unity, cooperation and understanding amongst industry stakeholders.
