CUSTOMS APAPA COMMAND INTERCEPTS EXPIRED DRUGS, OTHER ITEMS WORTH OVER SIX BILLION NAIRA

The National Compliance Joint Taskforce of Licensed Clearing Agents (NCJTFLCA) has reported a disturbing incident that occurred on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the Seme Border.

According to a press release signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Rev. Dr Alex Nwokedi, “Our officials, led by Western Zone PRO Comrade AA Victor, were conducting routine monitoring of goods and services at a location near Badagry roundabout when they observed suspicious activities, including trucks with covered registration numbers, and decided to investigate further. There and then, they were confronted by a group of over 30 individuals, allegedly led by ANLCA officials, who assaulted and inflicted injuries on them.

into OC Legal’s Acct

“Comrade AA Victor was thrown into a nearby drainage where he sustained serious injuries. Our officials reported the incident to the police, and the case is currently under investigation.”

“We are outraged by the subsequent actions of the Customs officials, who detained our officials for 3 days without justification, allegedly at the behest of the DC Enforcement’s office, Badagry. They were released on bail after paying a significant amount of money and signing an undertaking.”

“NCJTFLCA views this as an attempt to intimidate and persecute our members for doing their legitimate duty. We are concerned that this incident is linked to our observation of suspicious activities, including smuggling of illicit goods, at the Seme Border.”

NCJTFLCA is amazed by the recent increase in smuggling activities under the new Controller, Adewale Adenuga, without a corresponding increase in revenue, describing it as alarming. “We believe that our officials are being targeted for exposing these illegal activities.”

NCJTFLCA demands:

– A thorough investigation into the attack and detention of her officials
– The release of all detained officials without conditions
– Action against those responsible for the smuggling activities
– Transparency in customs operations at the Seme Border.

The group urged the public to support its efforts to promote compliance and transparency in the logistics industry.
