GLOBAL MARITIME ACADEMY HOLDS ITS CONVOCATION
… conferres fellowship awards

The Global Maritime Academy (GMA) has held its Convocation and passing-out parade as Diplomas certificates, prizes, and GMA Fellowship Awards were conferred by merits on individuals.
Addressing the gradaunds and guests at the GMA Campus located at Agbowhiame in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, the Rector of GMA, Dr. Mike Egbago said that the academy has always strived for excellence, and that the fruits of collective efforts have been visible in the last 15 years of its existence. And promised that the Academy would be producing the best personnel for the maritime industry on the continent of Africa.
Dr. Egbago affirmed that achievements of GMA stand as testimonies to the quality of education imparted at GMA and its unwavering commitment to the welfare of its staffers.
He disclosed that over the years, GMA has nurtured and shaped young minds, instilling in them the values of knowledge, integrity and perseverance, adding that gradaunds from GMA have become leaders, innovators and agents of change in various fields, saying that the school is proud of the achievement.
The GMA Rector solicited for the continuous support for the growth and improvement of the institute and humbly requested for collaboration in enhancing infrastructure, particularly, in the area of library equipment.
According to him “with your support, we can continue to build on the legacy of GMA, ensuring that the future generations of its students receive the best possible education. Together, let us create an environment that fosters curiosity, creativity and a thirst for knowledge”.
In his address, the chairman of the Governing Council of the Academy, Professor Christopher Orubu, said that from a humble beginning, Global Maritime Academy (GMA)has emerged as a beacon of excellence in Maritime education, leadership and global collaboration.
Professor Orubu noted that the dedicated staff, industry partnership and the commitment of the students have been the driving forces behind the success recorded by the school so far.
According to him “We have embraced cutting-edge technologies, adapted to evolving industry trends and consistently strived for academic excellence. The result is a graduating class that stands ready to embark on successful careers in the maritime sector. Throughout the years, we have invested in state-of-art facilities and research initiatives to provide our students with comprehensive and practical learning experience. We have secured approval for additional nine courses from the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) in 2023”.
He admonished the gradaunds urging them to be good ambassadors of the Academy.
In his words, ” as you embark on your professional careers, always remember that you are ambassadors of this distinguished institution that has continued to redefine the standards of maritime education.”
“As the demands for maritime education continue to grow and to meet the demand and maintain our commitment to excellence, we seek the support of our stakeholders, partners and the maritime community in ensuring the availability of adequate financial resources. Upgrading laboratories, expanding facilities and incorporating the latest technologies are vital steps in keeping our institution at the forefront of maritime education.”
The guest speaker, Mr. Emmanuel Maiguwa delivered the graduation lecture titled “The Relevance of the Blue Economy”.
